Mega Evolution is the Western release for the Pokémon TCG. It joins together two sets that were released last summer in Japan: Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia. As a consequence, Mega Evolution is a larger set than even the combination of its two progenitors, featuring a grand total of 188 cards, of which 132 are unique.
Some additional reprinted Trainer cards included in the set were first released in the Japanese expansion Premium Trainer Box MEGA. Just like in the Japanese counterparts, the main feature in the combined set is the return of the Mega Evolution. It was first featured in XY (released in Japan in 2013 as another pair of sets, Collection X and Collection Y) and last seen during the Sun & Moon era in 2019.
Pokémon ex cards that depict a Mega Evolution stage are identified with a special black and yellow EX symbol. They're of course among the most powerful Pokémon in existence, and each of them rewards the player with a triple amount of Prize cards when knocked out.
